THE CHAPEL OF OUR LADY OF THE STAR

Chapel.jpg
CHRISTIAN BROTHERS CENTER IS BLESSED WITH THE QUAINT AND BEAUTIFUL CHAPEL KNOWN AS OUR LADY OF THE STAR

The origin of the shrine of Our Lady of the Star in Montebourg, Normandy, France, is not known.

A Benedictine monastery and the shrine were founded there in the eleventh century and remained there until it was destroyed during the French Revolution at the end of the eighteenth century.  It was rebuilt by the Brothers of the Christian Schools of Mercy, who followed the rule of St. John Baptist de LaSalle and, in 1938, were incorporated into the Lasallian Brothers.  Today, the Brothers oversee a school there, as well as a group of people who act as custodians of this ancient Marian shrine.
